Life Coaching
Welcome to the first step in your journey to the new you.
What is life coaching?
One to one individualised coaching is a powerful alliance, designed to advance the lifelong process of human learning, effectiveness and fulfillment. Working one to one with a coach is like having a personal trainer, only instead of helping you to get fit, a coach works with you to help you improve specific facets of your life.
A coach is there to guide you, to encourage you and to prod you into action when you need it - but the person being coached takes responsibility for the outcome.
Lifeskills Coaching beliefs:
- Focuses on working towards the "solution", rather than moving away from the "problem".
- The "solution" is more than merely the absence of the "problem".
- Basic assumption is that people are essentially functional, rather than dysfunctional.
- Belief that people have the abilities necessary to reach their goals, despite the fact that they may not acknowledge these in themselves.
What is a Goal?
A goal is different from an outcome. A goal is what we aim for; an outcome is what actually happens. Because the outcome is often different from our original goal, we need to be as specific as possible in setting our goals. If we can do this, we are more likely to get closer to what we originally wanted.
